Ars. or SUic. will remove or correct the sickdisposition <strong>of</strong> children consequent upon chronic suppurations, blenorrhoeas or colliquations <strong>of</strong> the parents, and will prevent thedevelopment <strong>of</strong> chronic diseases which it may be either difficultimpossible to cure.It sometimes happens that children who look healthy and plumpat birth, in a few days already look pallid and flabby, they crymoan a good deal, do not sleep well, the lips lose their vermiliohue, the sclerotica assumes a bluish appearance, the features aresharply delineated, the palpebral conjunctiva and the ears look pand the muscles lose their tone. In a more advanced stage <strong>of</strong> thisform <strong>of</strong> ansemia the children look like old people, the muscles grperceptibly thinner, and on the neck and extremities visible sign<strong>of</strong> atrophy make their appearance.An anaemic condition <strong>of</strong> this kind is most frequently caused byan insufficient supply <strong>of</strong> milk on the part <strong>of</strong> the mother or nurseIf the children pass little urine and not as <strong>of</strong>ten as they oughtif they do not go to sleep while nursing; if, after nursing, theygrow restless and moan a good deal, let the mother or nurse inserher finger into the child's mouth. If the finger is taken hold <strong>of</strong>greedily and sucked at, this is a sure sign that the child is hunand craves more nourishment.In such a case the breasts should be examined at once.
