Psoriasis is not attended with itchinor at most only at the commencement, ^ut in no case if it hasbecome an inveterate disease. It may remain stationary, thoughbreaking out in new places, or it may intermit in its manifestatifor months and even years.Treatment. In selecting our remedies, we must not overlookthe fact that psoriasis is not an itching eruption. This seems tohave been ignored by many practitioners; Hartmann's delineationof the disease is especially untrue to Nature. The selection ofremedies is rendered particularly difficult by the circumstance tthe patient enjoys perfect health, and that on this account we arwithout any co-determining symptoms. It is wrong and unscientificto try to get symptoms out of a patient by persistent questioningand to hunt them up even among his ancestors in order to realizeour dreams about reliable remedies. It occurs most frequently among males,so that even in its hereditary descent the disease is confined tomale branch of the family, leaving the female branch intact.Ichthyosis is characterized by an hypertrophied condition of thepapillee of the skin, with excessive development of the epidermisthe function of the sebaceous follicles seems to be entirely extiThis disease does not show itself plainly until after the first yof infancy unless the children are frequently and carefully washeUntil then the patients only show a remarkably harsh and tough, dry skin which often has a deep-yellowish tinge. The scales neverform in the face, nor on the flexor-surface of the joints or on tscrotum ; they form most copiously on the extensor surface of thearms, thighs and legs, and on the knee.
