It should not be given as long as inflammatorsymptoms are present; nevertheless, it is recommended by many, and even by Hahnemann, at the outset of gonorrhoea. In the acutestage Hartmann only derived benefit from Thuya if condylomatawere present ; on the contrary, in secondary gonoiThoea, he foundvery efficacious, which many other practitioners confirm by theirown experience. Although the presence of condylomata & a goodindication, yet Thuya likewise acts well if no condylomata arepresent.Nitri aoidum competes with Thuya, but will scarcely ever proveuseful, except in the secondary form of gonorrhoea. As a rule itseems to act best in cases where Thuya had proved useless.Petroleum has been recommended in former times, but is nowvery generally abandoned on account of its inefficiency in this dease. It has likewise been recommended in the acute form, moreparticularly if the neck of the bladder is very much involved. Cagicum may likewise prove useful under such circumstances.Sulphur sometimes has a good efiect if all the other remedieshave proved fruitless; nevertheless it cannot be depended upon focertain. In strictures occasioned by chronic-inflammatory infiltrtions it is an important remedy. Clematis erecta and Nitri ac. shhowever, be tried first for this trouble. Strictures depending upthe presence of cicatrices in the urethra, are beyond the reach ointernal treatment and have to be managed by surgical means, thebougie, etc.The following remedies have likewise either been used or recommended. In acute gonorrhoea : Balsam, copaivcBy Tussilago petasitPetroselinum; the last-named remedy deserves the most attention,Urethritis. 11altbongh it is not used maeh by practitioners generally. In gleetCulebce^ Agnus castus^ Mezereum^ lodium^ Phosphori dddum.[In several inveterate cases of gonorrhoea, where injections hadbeen used for several months without the least benefit, a cure waeffected by Eafka by means of the internal use of Matico 1, a Pervian plant known in Peru as the Yerba del soldado, (the soldier'sweed or herb.) H.]It cannot be denied that Homoeopathy cannot boast of any verybrilliant results in the treatment of gonorrhoea. It is only excetionally that a real gonorrhoea yields in a few days to internalhomoeopathic treatment ; it generally takes weeks to cure the disease, and even then the gradual transformation of the disease inta gleetish discharge cannot be avoided. Have we not yet discoverethe right remedies ? Or do we not make a proper use of the remedies we have ? In this condition of things it certainly behoovehttp://www.archive.org/stream/sciencetherapeu00kafkgoog/sciencetherapeu00kafkgoog_djvu.txt
