If th© eczema has the impetiginoid form, it is advisableto place the patients for a short time in a horizontal posture, aorder flax-seed poultices to the part ; at the same time Shus ioxor Carbo vegetaUlis may be given internally, and, if erysipelatouredness sets in: Mercurius. — Afterwards the chief remedy is Siaphysagria which is <strong>of</strong>ten sufficient to eradicate the disease; welikewise call attention to Graphites^ Sulphury Lycopodium,Beside the above-mentioned remedies the following are likewisemore or less homoeopathic to eczema : Kreasoturriy Aurum muriaticJSarsaparillaj Sepia^ Siliceay Alumina^ ConiumjRanunculucsocleratalso Tartarus stibiatus.17. Impetigo.By this term we designate the breaking out <strong>of</strong> small pustules onthe skin, either scattered or in clusters.This afiection is traceable to the same causes that have beenpointed out as causes <strong>of</strong> eczema ; indeed, both these exanthemsgenerally appear associated. Besides this, however, impetigo isgenerally the expression <strong>of</strong> a constitutional affection, more partlarly <strong>of</strong> scr<strong>of</strong>ulosis, the first symptom <strong>of</strong> which is not unfrequenthe formation <strong>of</strong> pustules. Among adults the disease may becaused by an excessive supply as well as by an extreme deprivatio<strong>of</strong> good and nourishing food. Owing to peculiar causes, a subacuteimpetigo may break out after vaccination over the whole body.<strong>The</strong> appearance <strong>of</strong> the pustules is sometimes accompanied bysymptoms <strong>of</strong> an inconsiderable febrile irritation, generally, howewithout the general organism being involved. At a certain spoton the cuticle, seldom at several spots at once, an efflorescenceits appearance, attended with itching and burning which, however,never equals in intensity the itching 'and burning <strong>of</strong> herpes oreczema; very soon the efflorescent cuticle appears covered withsmall vesicles <strong>of</strong> the size <strong>of</strong> lentils or peas, containing an opaqliquid ; after having been out a few days, the vesicles break, antheir contents change to yellowish, greenish and brownish crusts,which adhere with a tolerable degree <strong>of</strong> tenacity and, on fallinghttp://www.archive.org/stream/sciencetherapeu00kafkgoog/sciencetherapeu00kafkgoog_djvu.txt
