If any. oneconsider a statement of this kind as disrespectful to Hahnemann, him consider that it is much better to admit defects than to wilfclose one's eyes to them. How many cures has any homoeopathicphysician made in accordance with Hahnemann's precepts ? A normal gonorrhoea runs a course of five to seven weeks. How can we8 Diseases of the Male Sexual Organs.talk about cures if we are to let remedies act for forty or eightdays? If a gonorrhsea disappears under Hahnemann's treatment, what has Thuya or Nitric acid to do with the cure?We boldly assert that most ht>moeopathic physicians employ othermeans and methods in order to secure the cure of gonorrhoea. Kthe gonorrhoea disappears in the fourth week, we are entitled toconsider this a cure. It will scarcely ever yield in a shorter peof time. Hartmann admits that this disease cannot be cured bymeans of a strict comparison of the symptoms, and that we cannotget along without resorting to a certain empiricism. "We fully agwith him in this opinion ; hence the reader must not expect to fithe use of each of the following remedies accounted for by an enumeration of the symptoms. For the first stage of an uncomplicated gonorrhoea there is nobetter simile and no more efficient remedy than Mercurius sclvbilThis drug has the whole group of symptoms ; tickling in the urethra when touching it at urinating, the tickling is of a voluptuosort, attended with violently excited sexual desire; greenishpurulent secretion from the urethra, with traces of blood ; inflamation of the prepuce and glans with balanorrhoea; breaking out olittle sores ; urging to urinate, with frequent and painful emissetc. The choice of Mercurius is therefore in strict accord with hmoeopathic principles, but does not depend, as Hartmann fancies, upon the resemblance of the gonorrhoeal to the chancre-virus, fordoes not exist. If Hartmann states that he has cured but few caseof gonoiThoea with Mercurius, we do not find this strange; Mercurius is not sufficient to a cure, and even if it were, it would nthe disease at once, for it cannot be cut short by internal treatLet it suffice to state that most homoeopathic physicians prefercurius as long as the inflammatory symptoms continue. Some ofthe above-mentioned complications likewise require Mercurius. Weallude more particularly to inflammatory infiltrations of the protate and to the parts adjoining the urethra. It is surprising thasuch infiltrations scarcely ever occur if the gonorrhoea is treatwith Mercurius from the beginning. If chordae sets in, Mercuriusis indicated by the cause producing the chordae. Gonorrhoeal buboes likewise require Mercurius. The doses should not be too smalwe have always had more success with the second trituration thanwith the higher attenuations ; one or two grains every morning ore\&en every other morning are quite sufficient ; it may not be adable to continue the use of this drug longer than ten days or a fnight.http://www.archive.org/stream/sciencetherapeu00kafkgoog/sciencetherapeu00kafkgoog_djvu.txt
