H.]The following remedies are indicated by the nature of the exciting cause rather than by the presence of the serous effusion : Catharis^ Terebinthina (for renal affections); Tart stib.j Carbo veSquilla^ Sulphur (for pulmonary affections) ; Ferrum^ Kali carboncum^ Phosphorus^ lodium^ Mercurius (for affections of the liver);Lycopodium^ Sulphur (for chronic catarrh of the bladder).In no disease it is more difficult to select a suitable remedy thin dropsy ; nor are we in any disease more frequently disappointeby the medicine employed, very often on account of some causehidden from observation.
