Convalescent childrenhave to be fed on good beef- or chicken-broth, milk, barleydry rusk, arrow-root, etc.Gastromalacia generally setting in after the children are weaned,we will here subjoin a few remarks about weaning.Children should not be weaned until they are able to partake <strong>of</strong>other nourishment beside mother's milk.Weakly or anaemic children who are troubled with acidity <strong>of</strong>the stomach, dyspepsia or diarrhoea, have to remain at the breastuntil these morbid conditions are removed and the little patientslook better and are more vigorous. If such children show symptoms <strong>of</strong>dyspepsia or <strong>of</strong> gastro-intestinal catarrh, they have to be attendto as soon as possible.Children who are brought up on farinaceous diet, or with sugartits habitually in their mouths, are most commonly subject to sucderangements.
