Although the general conduct and mode <strong>of</strong> living <strong>of</strong> the patient are subjects <strong>of</strong> the utmost importance in thisparticular, yet we are in possession <strong>of</strong> a few remedies which arecapable, independently <strong>of</strong> meeting other functional derangements,<strong>of</strong> preventing the frequent return <strong>of</strong> the hemorrhage ; these remedies are: Calc. carb.y Ferrumy Sepia and Siliceay whose specialcations we cannot well enumerate in this place. Carbo veg. andChnium are <strong>of</strong>ten likewise adequate to this purpose.<strong>The</strong> dietetic measures to be adapted in pulmonary hemorrhageand to meet a constitutional tendency to it, will suggest themselwithout any advise from us. All we wish to say is that c<strong>of</strong>fee andall other stimulants, even smoking, must be strictly forbidden.[<strong>The</strong> following medicines have likewise been found useful in pulmonary hemorrhage; for particulars concerning most <strong>of</strong> them werefer the reader to Hale's New Remedies, 2d edition.Erigeron oanadense, when the blood is expelled in the shape <strong>of</strong>dark coagula; it is likewise recommended for passive venous hemorrhage generally.Hamamelis, recommended for passive venous hemorrhage, althoughit has likewise been found an efficient remedy in active arterialhemorrhage.Seneoio aureus may be given for vicarious hemorrhage when occurring in the place <strong>of</strong> the menses.Trillium, in tincture or infusion, is an excellent remedy for pulnary as well as uterine hemorrhage.Veratrum viride may afford aid in cases <strong>of</strong> hemorrhage resultingfrom uncomplicated, but severe pulmonary hypewemia ; the medicine has to be given in larger doses than usual.Soilla maritima is excellent in hemorrhage from neglected catarrhthe blood bubbles up with a pricking sensation at the place whencthe hemorrhage proceeds.
