[We have subduedthe most intense phlegmonous inflammation <strong>of</strong> the testes consequenupon sudden suppression <strong>of</strong> gonorrhoea by means <strong>of</strong> the 18th attenuation <strong>of</strong> Aconite; the first tablespoonful <strong>of</strong> a solution <strong>of</strong> a fewules in half a tumbler <strong>of</strong> water, produced an almost instantaneousrelief from the most agonizing distress. In rheumatic orchitis thlower attenuations <strong>of</strong> Aconite act more specifically, or in otherwords are more specifically adapted to the pathological process.In a case <strong>of</strong> terrible orchitis caused by suppression <strong>of</strong> the gonorrhoeal discharge, with swelling and inflammation <strong>of</strong> the spermaticcord <strong>of</strong> the affected side, high fever, flushed cheeks, glisteningintolerable restlessness. Belladonna given internally and appliedtemally, in the proportion <strong>of</strong> fifteen to twenty drops <strong>of</strong> the fluiextract to half a cupful <strong>of</strong> water, controlled the inflammation answelling, after other remedies had been tried in vain. H.]<strong>The</strong>se remedies are likewise to be used in chronic primary swellings <strong>of</strong> the testes. Some <strong>of</strong> these swellings are, indeed, past allcure, especially those having a tubercular origin; in some cases,however, even <strong>of</strong> long standing, the result <strong>of</strong> our treatment is, ideed very etriking.External applications generally are <strong>of</strong> very little use in orchitiNeither warm nor cold fomentations are easily born, nor have theyany good effect, not even palliative.
