We can neither afford time nor spaceto dwell upon this point more fully, since this would lead to reptions, and the appropriate remedies are, moreover, specially mentioned when the different pathological processes are treated of.treating the palpitation of a chlorotic female, for instance, ourendeavor will certainly be to find a remedy that shall correspondwith the totality of the chlorotic symptoms.We do not wish to incur any censure if we mention the followingremedies very briefly ; it is our opinion that in a difficulty, wis so entirely local, the suitable remedy can be just as easily fin the Materia Medica as if we here compiled a repertory of all tremedies bearing upon such a case. For the sake of completeness26402 Diseases of the Heart.we should likewise have to indicate the various accessory circunistances, which would plunge us into a maze of details.For the objectively perceptible palpitation, which is particularlcharacterized by congestive symptoms, we recommend the followingremedies :Aconitum in the case of robust, plethoric, young individuals, likwise in the case of persons with excitable temperaments and whoare subject to rushes of blood from every trifling emotion; likewin the case of tuberculous individuals, where pulmonary congestions and palpitation of the heart exist together. Aconite is notindicated unless the column of blood is in a general state of excment and increased movement. The action of Aconite is not governed by any particular time of day, but it is particularly suitaif the paroxysms occur more habitually towards evening. Themovements of the heart are stronger, more rapid, but not by anymeans irregular.Spigelia : The action of the heart is increased, but it is irreguboth in rhythm and impulse, which is more like an undulatingmotion ; the paroxysms occur at indefinite periods, but more especially in the morning; the patient's temperature is unequal, theextremities are cold to the touch ; Spigelia is indicated for paltions arising from worms.Arsenicum: The heart beats much more forcibly and rapidly,seldom irregularly or indistinctly ; the paroxysms occur principaat night during sleep, or about midnight, and are attended withexcessive anxiety and restlessness ; the skin does not feel cold,burning hot ; at most the extremities may feel cool.
