We can neither afford time nor spaceto dwell upon this point more fully, since this would lead to reptions, and the appropriate remedies are, moreover, specially mentioned when the different pathological processes are treated of.treating the palpitation of a chlorotic female, for instance, ourendeavor will certainly be to find a remedy that shall correspondwith the totality of the chlorotic symptoms.We do not wish to incur any censure if we mention the followingremedies very briefly ; it is our opinion that in a difficulty, wis so entirely local, the suitable remedy can be just as easily fin the Materia Medica as if we here compiled a repertory of all tremedies bearing upon such a case. For the sake of completeness26402 Diseases of the Heart.we should likewise have to indicate the various accessory circunistances, which would plunge us into a maze of details.For the objectively perceptible palpitation, which is particularlcharacterized by congestive symptoms, we recommend the followingremedies :Aconitum in the case of robust, plethoric, young individuals, likwise in the case of persons with excitable temperaments and whoare subject to rushes of blood from every trifling emotion; likewin the case of tuberculous individuals, where pulmonary congestions and palpitation of the heart exist together. Aconite is notindicated unless the column of blood is in a general state of excment and increased movement. The action of Aconite is not governed by any particular time of day, but it is particularly suitaif the paroxysms occur more habitually towards evening. Themovements of the heart are stronger, more rapid, but not by anymeans irregular.Spigelia : The action of the heart is increased, but it is irreguboth in rhythm and impulse, which is more like an undulatingmotion ; the paroxysms occur at indefinite periods, but more especially in the morning; the patient's temperature is unequal, theextremities are cold to the touch ; Spigelia is indicated for paltions arising from worms.Arsenicum: The heart beats much more forcibly and rapidly,seldom irregularly or indistinctly ; the paroxysms occur principaat night during sleep, or about midnight, and are attended withexcessive anxiety and restlessness ; the skin does not feel cold,burning hot ; at most the extremities may feel cool. Full text of "The Science of Therapeutics: According to the Principles of Homeopath...Page 343 of 653Ferrum is adapted to chlorotic and anaemic individuals, if thepalpitation is attended with frequent changes of color in the facand if the face looks flushed at the beginning of the paroxysm ;is likewise adapted to tuberculous individuals, likewise to indivuals with excitable nerves, or with nerves rendered irritable bycessive excitement ; it is adapted to females more particulariy imenses are scanty and the patients are suftering with uterine catNitrum as well as Acidum nitricum are characteristically distinguished by violent, but short-lasting pulmonary congestions without any real pain, they either precede the palpitation, or else ssimultaneously with it.Palpitatio Cordis. 403Nux vomica deserves particular consideration, if the palpitationis occasioned by irregularities in the digestive process, never llong, is attended with cerebral congestions or nausea ; also if tpalpitation is caused by abuse of spirits, in the case of drunkaror if caused by abuse of coffee, or depending upon spinal irritatPlatina, if the palpitation is attended with menstrual irregularities or retention of the menses ; likewise if it is attended witgood deal of sexual excitement.Belladonna is indicated under similar circumstances ; it may likewise prove suitable for palpitation generally.Phosphorus, Veratrum album, Aurum, Argentum likewise belong inthis category.In the second series we class the remedies that have a debilitating influence over the action of the heart, which the patientimagines m oikly excited momentarily or transitorily by thesedrugs.Pulsatilla, if the palpitation is excited by the least irritationattended with great anxiety which seems to be oat of all proportion to the slight objective symptoms ; there is a rapid change ocolor in the face, the patient feels chilly; if the palpitation irelieved by motion, especially by exercise in the open air, or bylittle pleasant social entertainment ; if the palpitation rousesfrom sleep at night. Pulsatilla is excellent in chlorosis if thenervous symptoms prevail, and is likewise suitable for palpitatioduring the menses.China: Palpitation of the heart, with external coldness, soft andsmall pulse; after losses of animal fluids; in the case of indiviwith great nervous prostration, hypochondriacs, persons addictedto self-abuse.Camphora, for irregular palpitation, with unusual oppression ofthe chest evidently not arising from determination of blood, withvery feeble pulse, general coldness of the body.Ignatia, Sepia, Asafoetida, Nux moschata have very similar cardiasymptoms ; they all have a small and weak pulse during the palpihttp://www.archive.org/stream/sciencetherapeu00kafkgoog/sciencetherapeu00kafkgoog_djvu.txt
