From its generaleffect as well as from its influence upon single organs we are jufied in concluding that Todiian can be used for the absorption ofplastic pleuritic exudation, and that, indirectly, it may likewislike Sulphur, aid in the removal of a serous effusion.Beside the remetlies we have named, many more have been recommended for pleuritis. But these reconimendations are eitherbased upon indications that we cannot accept as valid, or uponpractical results where the diagnosis appears more than doubtful,or finally the remedies are recommended upon purely speculativegrounds, and we, therefore, content ourselves with simply mentioning their names; they are: Bkm toxicodendron y Nux vomica^ Tartarus stibvaias^ Carbo vegetabllis^ Sabadilla^ Spigeluj^ Acidum nFor reasons mentioned at the beginning of this article, we do notdeem it expedient to give a cursory view of the various remedies842 Diseases of the Pleura.in apposition with the various forms and stages of pleuritis. Thegeneral management of an acute case of pleuritis is the same as ipneumonia. In a case of thoracic fistula, the aboveremedies have to be applied to in the first place; beside these whave moreover Silicea^ Lycopodiam^ Ferrum^ China^ and more particularly Calcarea carbonica and phosphorica.
