In this last shape roseola sometimes appears epidemically, but not over a large extent <strong>of</strong> country, in which case theeruption looks very much like a mild form <strong>of</strong> scarlatina to whichit is related like a sort <strong>of</strong> transition-link. In the same house whave seen two children laid up with the mildest form <strong>of</strong> roseola;another child, on the contrary, was attacked so violently that itseemed perfectly justifiable to diagnose scarlatina, so much moredistinct desquamation took place, and a slight degree <strong>of</strong> oedemawas noticed over the whole body. Roseola never involves anydanger.<strong>The</strong> disorder may originate in catarrh or in a marked change <strong>of</strong>temperature, as a rule it is owing to such atmospheric conditionsas favor epidemic diseases.
