Full text <strong>of</strong> "<strong>The</strong> <strong>Science</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>The</strong>rapeutics: According to the Principles <strong>of</strong> Homeopath...Page 584 <strong>of</strong> 653other <strong>of</strong> these causes prevails, the homoeopathic treatment is reglated accordingly, and the true nature <strong>of</strong> ansemia is reached andmodified by these means.<strong>The</strong> dietetic treatment <strong>of</strong> anaemia has for its object to so regulathe circumstances <strong>of</strong> the patient as to secure the normal restorat<strong>of</strong> the blood. <strong>The</strong> diet is so important that our opponents attributo it exclusively the good eflects <strong>of</strong> our treatment. Although wedo not deny that many forms <strong>of</strong> anaemia, especially <strong>of</strong> the consecutive kind, are cured by a suitable diet after the removal <strong>of</strong> thecauses, there are many other forms <strong>of</strong> anaemia, especially constittional and secondary, where the best dietetic measures are insufficient, and where the interference <strong>of</strong> art is indispensable to aGeneral dietetic rules adapted to all forms <strong>of</strong> anaemia cannot beestablished for the reason that every special case requires a diemanagement <strong>of</strong> its own. For the present we content ourselveswith mentioning the general dietetic arrangements that deserveattention in most cases. Special dietetic rules will be indicatedwhen treating <strong>of</strong> the special forms <strong>of</strong> anaemib.696 Anaemia, Oligemia.If the process <strong>of</strong> sanguification and nutrition is to be improved,the condition <strong>of</strong> the digestive organs has to be carefully attendeto above everything else.If anaemic individuals digest very rapidly; if, soon after a copimeal, they again feel hungry ; if they do not experience any trouafter eating; if they feel comfortable after a meal and have n<strong>of</strong>ever, the most nourishing diet may be indulged in by such patien<strong>The</strong>y may use strong soups with the concentrated extract <strong>of</strong> beef,roast-beef, steak, i-la-mode beef, various kinds <strong>of</strong> roast withoutmuch fat, venison, eggs, farinaceous food, light vegetables whichare not <strong>of</strong> the flatulent kind, cake prepared with sugar, but notand without yeast ; fish which is not too fat, is likewise allowasuch as trout, salmon, cod, pike, pickerel, etc.Fat food, salad seasoned with sharp vinegar, husks, fresh bread,etc., should be rigidly avoided.Stewed fruit is generally more easily digested than raw fruit.Eggs, almonds, cottage-cheese may be partaken <strong>of</strong> in moderatequantities.A well fermented beer is the best beverage for anaemic persons;during a meal light wines may be indulged in. A little Champaigne may be used with the dessert.If there is a good deal <strong>of</strong> vascular excitement, disposition toheadache and congestions, with sleeplessness, affections <strong>of</strong> the hor lungs, hemorrhage, etc., the use <strong>of</strong> wine has to be strictlyavoided ; beer, if partaken <strong>of</strong> discretly or diluted with water answeetened with sugar, generally agrees with most patients.Ansemic p"fersons had better eat frequently, every few hours, thatoo much at once.
