Full text <strong>of</strong> "<strong>The</strong> <strong>Science</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>The</strong>rapeutics: According to the Principles <strong>of</strong> Homeopath...Page 623 <strong>of</strong> 653If it assumes the symptoms <strong>of</strong> cholera, we resort to Ars. 3, Veraialb, 8, or Tart emeL 8.If the vomiting is chiefly sour and the stools have a sour smell,are watery and corrosive, attended with violent colicky pains ; ithe thirst is excessive, the extremities are icy-cold, and the chare covered with a cold and clammy perspiration and lying in astate <strong>of</strong> torpor bordering upon insensibility, Ve give Ars. in soltion, a teaspoonful every fifteen minutes.If the vomiting is greenish and sour, and the act <strong>of</strong> vomiting ispreceded by paroxysms <strong>of</strong> nausea and fainting, the watery andinodorous alvine discharges are very copious and attended withsevere colicky pains; and if the extreme collapse is accompaniedby convulsions, we give Veratrum in the same manner.S<strong>of</strong>tening <strong>of</strong> the Stomach. 741If tliese Rymptoms are accompanied by sopor instead <strong>of</strong> convulBions, we resort to Tart, emet^ same dose. <strong>The</strong>se three remedies aperfectly reliable and sometimes effect an improvement after thefirst dose.If the disease breaks out in the form <strong>of</strong> gastritis, Bellad. 8 issovereign remedy which speedily moderates both the pains and thefever and arrests the vomiting and diarrhoea. We give this remedyin solution, a teaspoonful every fifteen minutes, extending theintervals as soon as an improvement becomes apparent. If no improvement sets in in two or three hours, we resort to the Sulphat<strong>of</strong> Atropine 3 same dose and form, with which we have <strong>of</strong>ten succeeded in subduing the most dangerous symptoms. At the sametime we apply cold water compresses to the region <strong>of</strong> the stomach,and if the abdomen is painful and bloated, likewise to the latterIf the whole body is very hot, we resort to general ablutions witdilute vinegar.If, after the termination <strong>of</strong> the acute stage, the patients arecollapsed, with cold extremities, frequent diarrhoeic stools, sopconvulsions, Ars. 8 or Laches. 6 may be resorted to, a few dropswine or brandy and water may be administered, the cold extremities may be rubbed with warm wine or brandy and enveloped inwarm cloths, after which a favorable reaction and a generalimprovement will sometimes set in even in cases that had seemedhopeless.If the disease breaks out in the form <strong>of</strong> an hydrocephaloid, weare guided in the selection <strong>of</strong> a remedy by the febrile phenomena,the evacuations, the strength <strong>of</strong> the patient and the cerebralsymptoms.As long as there is fever and the evacuations continue frequent,the children retain their strength, the brain is free, but the heis hot and heavy, we give Bellad. 3 in solution, every hour.If the extremities are cool, the children are pale and languid, ttrunk is hot, the alvine evacuations are copious and symptoms <strong>of</strong>sopor set in, we give Verat. alb. 3 in the same dose and form.http://www.archive.org/stream/sciencetherapeu00kafkgoog/sciencetherapeu00kafkgoog_djvu.txt
