Whereas the congestive ailments abate with the appearance of the menses, and disap{entirely on the second day, the nervous symptoms on the contraryare apt to continue during the whole period.In most cases the causes of these ailments are very obscure.Although they most generally accompany scanty menses, yet theyare not unfrequently attendant on profuse menstruation ; moreoveralthough they more commonly affect sensitive, feeble, irritable,delicate and effeminate individuals, yet they are likewise met wiamong women of a robust constitution and who menstruate regularlyThese remarks may show that it would be a futile undertakingto indicate the whole series of symptoms which characterize suchailments. Hence we prefer recording a few of the more importantdifliculties together with their corresponding remedies.
