FREEEAST TURKISTAN SYMPOSIUMover the incidents in East Turkistan were made during the demonstration. 13 TheChairman of the Saadet Party, Prof. Dr. Numan Kurtulmuş, delivered a speechin the demonstration in which he made the following 11-item proposal to theTurkish Grand National Assembly and Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdoğan:“1- The Republic of Turkey should recall her ambassador from Beijing back toAnkara until the Chinese government ends their brutal and violent actions. 2- Iextend my gratitude to the deputies who resigned; however, their action shouldnot remain limited to resignation. They need to clearly explain why they resignedand all of them need to resign before tomorrow morning. 3- The Turkish GrandNational Assembly should be urgently convened to discuss the measures thatare to be taken against the Communist government of China in a closed session.4- China has declared that those who were involved in the incidents will beexecuted. Our concern is that thousands of brothers and sisters of ours will be sentto the scaffold. The Turkish Foreign Ministry will move beyond the traditional“denouncement” to make any effort required to stop executions. 5- It cannot beleft to the Chinese government to investigate the truth of these incidents. Anindependent board of international observers should be established to investigateall aspects of the incidents. 6- The position of the UN is crystal clear. The UNhas turned out to be a desk of the US State Department. What Turkey shoulddo is to begin a diplomatic initiative to restructure the UN and to change thestatus of the UN Security Council. 7- Turkey, who has an influence on countriesincluding Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan, shouldpressure such countries to take actions and start initiatives for East Turkistan.8- Iran, Saudi Arabia and Egypt should take actions actively to commission theOIC to produce an effective plan of action. 9- Countries who constantly discussthe value of human rights, including Germany, England, Spain and Italy, shouldfocus on this issue. 10- Preparations should be made to mobilize organizationssuch as IHH and Cansuyu to the region.11- Hundreds of millions of citizens ofEast Turkistan live as refugees in many parts of the world. Turkey should makespecial efforts in the UN to ensure that these people are granted refugee status.As an example of this, Turkey first needs to grant the right to refuge, passport andresidence to those who live in Turkey.” 14China reacted against the demonstration organised by the Saadet Party inprotest to the brutal Chinese massacre of the Uyghur Muslims and to prove that354
