FREEEAST TURKISTAN SYMPOSIUMChinese goods are recognized as shoddy and second-rate; despite this theyhave spread throughout the world. However, due to the poor quality manycountries now refuse to buy products from China; this has had a negative impacton the Chinese economy, and will be greater in the long term. It is important tounderstand that China has created an identity of an oppressor of economy; theeconomy will inevitably collapse because there are a billion and a half peopleliving here who are not satisfied with the policies of Communist rule. Moreover, more than 80% of Chinese people are living under the poverty line. After a brief review of what the people of Turkistan have been subjectedto in their home territory, in what is essentially an attempt to erase them fromexistence via occupation, there are three basic dimensions of the problem that wecan refer to:First: There is a serious violation of human rights in Turkistan by the Chineseauthorities and the Han settlers.Second: The human rights situation in Turkistan threatens the fate of thepeople and their future in their own territory.Third: The Chinese are responding to claims by the people of Turkistan’ oftheir fundamental rights with great cruelty; the whole world has now witnessedthese practices. However, we are the true owners of this land, we have lived under occupationfor 60 years, and we are a people who are at odds with the Chinese, religiously, linguistically, and culturally; moreover, our land lies outside the walls of Chinaand we have withstood China’s policy that has tried to eliminate us from thisarea during this period. It is our natural right to claim complete freedom andthe right to self-determination; we do this by raising the issue of East Turkistanin the corridors of the United Nations and the Security Council. It must berecognized that freedom will not come easily; it will not be overnight, but wemust continue to work diligently and faithfully, for tens or even hundreds of years, until we have empowered our religion, our era and our land. First and foremost webelieve in God and the laws of the land and we believe that we will prevail againstour enemies with patience and with endeavor, working together to achieve ourobjectives, as God Almighty expresses in the verses:594
