They arrested peoplewho had videos of the incidents on their computers, cell phones, or cameras. 39· Wang Lequan, the representative of the Communist Party and who isresponsible for the massacre in East Turkistan, ordered that the police shootany Uyghur Turk who raised his or her head. The soldiers opened fire onthe Turks in the streets during the incidents! 40 Wang Lequan stated: “noChinese people will turn back or become frightened, because the Chinesesecurity forces are with them.” This is a provocative statement. It can easily beobserved in the videos of independent news agencies that the Chinese troopssuppressed and blockaded the Uyghur people. The fact that Chinese troopsdid not intervene with the Chinese paramilitary units who were walkingon the streets with bats in their hands confirms the statement of the specialgovernor.· It bodes ill for the future that Wang Lequan made the following statementduring the incidents: "We need to shoot anyone who raises his or her head.We need to shoot before they attack us. We will restart the correction activityagainst independence movements in the region this winter and next spring". 41We remember the bitter consequences of the correction activities in the past.A new wave of oppression is being prepared over the people of East Turkistanunder the cover of “correction”.· The Chinese consulate general in Istanbul started to distribute propagandarecords to mislead public opinion in Turkey, a country that had the strongestreaction to the events.
