Creating Sites from the Comm<strong>and</strong> Line<br />

If you are an administrator of the server computer, you can also create sites by using<br />

the Stsadm.exe comm<strong>and</strong>-line tool. To create a top-level website, use the createsite<br />

operation.<br />

Note You can also use the createsiteinnewdb operation to create a toplevel<br />

website <strong>and</strong> a new content database at the same time.<br />

The createsite operation takes the following required parameters: url, ownerlogin,<br />

<strong>and</strong> owneremail. It also takes the following optional parameters: ownername, lcid,<br />

sitetemplate, title, description, <strong>and</strong> quota. For example, to create a top-level website<br />

called site1 on http://server_name/sites, you would use syntax similar to the following:<br />

stsadm.exe -o createsite -url http://server_name/sites/site1<br />

-ownerlogin -owneremail <br />

-ownername <br />

Using the Setup.ini File for Installation<br />

If you are installing a large number of servers or want to customize your installation,<br />

you can run SharePoint Portal Server setup in unattended mode by using an .ini file.<br />

When you install SharePoint Portal Server by using an .ini file, no dialog boxes or<br />

error messages that require user intervention are displayed unless there is no entry
