Caution If you want to use a Microsoft Office Excel spreadsheet that has
been saved as a Web page, the sheet must not use interactivity—that is, the
Add Interactivity option must be cleared in the Save As dialog box in Excel.
Other important list-related features you can configure are assigning per-list
permissions, attaching files to a list item, copying the contents of a list to a spreadsheet,
changing the name of the list or document library, and deleting a list. These
are detailed in the following sections.
Specify List Permissions
Area and Topic lists take their security from the portal site. Lists created in Windows
SharePoint Services sites have security set at the list level. Lists (excluding document
libraries) can be set to require content approval, but not versioning. However, lists do
have item-level permissions, and this is available on all lists, wherever they are located
in SharePoint Products and Technologies. The item-level permissions allow you to
specify whether users can read and edit only their own items or their own plus the
items of others. This setting is found at the list level. To modify the setting, navigate to
the list, click Modify Settings and Columns, and then in the General Settings section,
click Change General Settings. You can then modify the setting by means of the option
buttons in the Item-Level Permissions section, as illustrated in Figure 20-3.
