Chapter 42: Upgrading and Migrating to SharePoint Products and Technologies 1119
Figure 42-5 Import SharePoint Portal Server 2001 operation completion summary page
8. Click OK and then check that the areas, listings, keyword Bests Bets, and content
sources are configured as you would expect.
9. Convert dashboard Web Parts to the Web Part Infrastructure for Microsoft Products
and Technologies.
10. Migrate documents and their associated descriptive information (metadata)
from SharePoint Portal Server Web Storage System document libraries to the
SQL content database document libraries.
If you just want to run the upgrade process so that you migrate just the configuration
details, such as categories and content sources, complete procedure 2 of the
preceding list and save the resulting XML file in a secure location where it will not
be accidentally deleted; then follow the installation procedures as in Chapter 3, and,
depending on your deployment scenario, Chapter 11, “Deploying a Single Server
and a Small Server Farm,” or Chapter 12, “Deploying Medium and Large Server
Farms.” Then complete procedure 6 of the preceding list.
When you import SharePoint Portal Server 2001 data to SharePoint Portal
Server 2003 during an upgrade operation from SharePoint Portal Server 2001 to
SharePoint Portal Server 2003, you might receive the following error message, where
X is a number:
Successfully imported X out of X areas.
Error(s) occurred during the import. See logs for details.
Even though the error message indicates that all items are imported successfully,
you might find that not all items are imported to SharePoint Portal Server 2003.
When you view the log files, an entry indicates that the error that occurred is a result
of a duplicate topic or category name. However, the actual name of the duplicate item
is not specified in the entry. This problem might occur if one or more of the Share-
Point Portal Server 2001 topics or one or more of the SharePoint Portal Server 2001
categories that you import to SharePoint Portal Server 2003 use the same name as
one or more of the default topics or the default categories in SharePoint Portal
Server 2003. Additionally, the duplicate item is not imported to SharePoint Portal
Server 2003.
