Chapter 31: Working with Web Parts 827
■ Help Link. Specifies the location of an HTML-formatted file containing Help
information that will help the end user interact with the Web Part. The Help
information is displayed in a separate browser window when you click the
Help command on the Web Part menu.
■ Icon File (Large). Also known as the PartImageLarge property; specifies the
location of a file containing a large Web Part icon. This icon is used when the
Web Part is listed in a gallery. The image size must be 16 by 16 pixels.
■ IconFile (Small). Known as the PartImageSmall property; is not currently
used by the Web Part infrastructure and is reserved for future use, so this property
is irrelevant in Windows SharePoint Service 2.0 and SharePoint Portal
Server 2003.
■ Missing Assembly Error. Specifies a message that appears when you
import a Web Part for which the assembly file is missing or incorrect. An
assembly can contain one or more Web Parts. If this property is not set, a system
default message will be displayed.
■ Target Audiences. By clicking the Select button, the Select Audiences – Web
Page dialog box is displayed. This allows you to target a Web Part to a specific
audience. Add selected audiences from the available audiences list, and click
OK. If no audiences are targeted, the Web Part is viewed by all portal users. To
view the audiences that the Web Part targets, display the Select Audiences –
Web Page dialog box. This property is valid only on portal site Web Part Pages.
Custom Properties are displayed under group headings in the Web Part tool page as
specified by their category attribute in the tool part CustomPropertiesToolPart, as
described earlier in this chapter. Any property that is not displayed under the
Advanced, Layout, or Appearance group headings is a custom property. The custom
properties displayed in the Web Part tool pane are dependent on the Web Part that
you modify.
A group heading that is often visible when you are editing a Web Part is Miscellaneous.
If a developer does not specify a category attribute, or if Default or Miscellaneous
is specified, all the Web Part’s custom properties are displayed under the
Miscellaneous heading of the tool pane. For example, the Grouped Listings Web Part
and Web Parts based on the Grouped Listings Web Part have the Cache Timeout and
Cache Per User properties listed under this Miscellaneous section.
