Chapter 16: Windows SharePoint Services Site Administration 409
The Blank Site template is shown in Figure 16-4.
This page can be customized exactly as you want through the Modify Shared
Page drop-down menu in the upper-right corner of the screen. (Refer to Figure 16-4.)
Unlike the Team Site template, the Blank Site template will not automatically set up
any document or picture libraries for you, nor will it set up lists or discussion forums.
Document Workspace
A Document Workspace site is a Microsoft Windows SharePoint Services site that
is centered on one or more documents. Colleagues can easily work together on a
document—either by working directly on the Document Workspace site copy or by
working on their own copy, which they can update periodically with changes that
have been saved to the Document Workspace site copy.
Creating a Generic Document Workspace Site
You might need to contact an administrator to grant you permission to create Document
Workspace sites. Once you have the required permission, you can use the
following steps to create a generic document workspace site:
1. Go to a Microsoft Windows SharePoint Services website where you have permission
to create Document Workspace sites.
2. On the top link bar, click Create.
3. On the Create page, under Web Pages, click Sites and Workspaces.
4. Enter a title, description, and URL, and click a permission setting. Then click
Create.

Hooray! Your file is uploaded and ready to be published.
