Troubleshooting
Note If you have required client certificates and you would like to add the
content of your SSL-protected site to the index, you must install the client
certificate on the index management server. For more information and
detailed instructions, refer to the white paper “Enabling Client Certificates
and Using Client Certificates When Crawling Content with SharePoint Portal
Server 2003,” located at http://www.microsoft.com/technet/prodtechnol
/office/sps2003/maintain/clicerts.asp?frame=true.
In this section, we will concentrate on the common problems that you might come
across, and how to resolve them. We will start with how to obtain and install the CA
root, and then address what to do if the common name does not resolve. After that,
we will look into the problems of certificates not being trusted and inheritance overrides
not being accepted. In addition, we will discuss the course of action in case the
home page of the portal site does not appear on one or more front-end Web servers.
Obtaining and Installing the Certificate Authority Root
If any of your SSL tests failed, and you use Microsoft Certificate Services, you might
need to install the certificate authority root on your servers by using the following
procedure.
Note If you use another certificate authority, use the steps supplied by the
certificate authority provider.
1. In your Web browser, type the URL of the CA server.
2. On the Welcome page, click Download a CA certificate, certificate chain,
or CRL.

Hooray! Your file is uploaded and ready to be published.
