738 Part VIII: Securing SharePoint Products and Technologies
1. On the Manage Content Sources page, rest the pointer on People, click the
arrow that appears, and then click View Gatherer Log on the menu that
appears.
2. Rest the pointer on Site directory, click the arrow that appears, and then click
View Gatherer Log on the menu that appears.
3. Rest the pointer on This portal, click the arrow that appears, and then click
View Gatherer Log on the menu that appears.
On the index management server, if you have the proxy settings in Microsoft
Internet Explorer specified as the same as those on the Search Server Settings page,
you might receive a security alert when you access the portal site. This alert could
include the following information:
■ Whether the certificate was issued by a company you trust
■ Whether the certificate date is valid
■ Whether the name of the certificate is valid
If a warning icon (a yellow triangle with an exclamation point in it) accompanies
either or both of the first two items, you must fix the issue. If you see a warning
icon next to the third item, you can bypass the certificate name check by doing the
following:
1. On the SharePoint Portal Server Central Administration for server_name page,
in the Component Configuration section, click Manage the Search Service.
On the Manage Search Settings page, in the Servers and Topology section,
click the name of the index management server.
2. On the Search Server Settings page, in the SSL Certificate Warning Configuration
section, select the Ignore SSL Certificate name warnings check box,
and then click OK.
Note If you choose to ignore certificate name warnings, it is recommended
that you do not use the index management server to crawl sites on
the Internet.
To configure import settings for user profiles to use SSL via secure LDAP
(optional)
This is an optional step. If you configured use of Active Directory for user profiles
by following the steps in the Microsoft Office SharePoint Portal Server 2003
Administrator’s Guide, you need to ensure that you select the Use SSL-secured
connection check box on the Add Connection page, as follows:

Hooray! Your file is uploaded and ready to be published.

Saved successfully!

Ooh no, something went wrong!
