3. On the Create Audience page, type a name <strong>and</strong> description for the audience.<br />

4. Click Satisfy all of the rules or Satisfy any of the rules. Complex rules, for<br />

example rules that combine OR <strong>and</strong> AND operators, can be created only<br />

through the Object Model.<br />

5. Click OK.<br />

6. The Add Audience Rule page appears. See the “To add audience rule” procedure<br />

for more information.<br />

Tip You must add rules to an audience <strong>and</strong> then compile the audience<br />

before content can be targeted to the audience.<br />

You can add, edit, or delete audiences from the View Audiences page, which<br />

is shown in Figure 23-4. Deleting an audience does not delete content; rather, content<br />

is no longer targeted to members of that audience. If that content is only targeted<br />

to that audience, it is no longer seen on the site.<br />

Compiling Audiences<br />

Changes made to audiences <strong>and</strong> audience rules are not reflected in audience membership<br />

until the audience is compiled. During compilation, all existing audiences<br />

will be compiled. You should start audience compilation after creating a new audience<br />

or after important changes in user profile information have taken place. You
