SharePoint Portal Server farms use many different service accounts. These service<br />

account settings can all use the same account, or they can use different accounts if corporate<br />

policies dictate. For the purposes of this chapter, all service account settings will<br />

use the same account. Table 12-3 shows the different service accounts.<br />

The SharePoint Portal Server administrator must have at least local Power User<br />

rights on each server running SharePoint Portal Server. To grant the account Power<br />

User permissions, follow these steps:<br />

1. Open Administrative Tools, click Computer Management.<br />

2. Exp<strong>and</strong> Local Users <strong>and</strong> Groups <strong>and</strong> click the Groups folder.<br />

3. Double-click the Power Users group.<br />

4. Click the Add button.<br />

5. Enter the name of the service account (SPS\SPSSQL) <strong>and</strong> click OK. Click OK<br />

again to finalize the group membership addition.
