3. On the Preliminary Steps page, click Next.<br />

4. On the Server Role page, click Application server (IIS, ASP.NET) <strong>and</strong> then<br />

click Next.<br />

5. On the Web Application Server Options page, accept the default of ASP.NET<br />

<strong>and</strong> then click Next.<br />

6. On the Summary Of Selections page, click Next.<br />

7. Click Finish.<br />

8. Click Start, point to Administrative Tools, <strong>and</strong> then click Internet Information<br />

Services (IIS).<br />

9. In Internet Information Services manager, click the plus sign (+) next to the<br />

server name, <strong>and</strong> then right-click the Web Sites folder <strong>and</strong> select Properties.<br />

10. In the Properties dialog box, click the Service tab.<br />

11. In the Isolation mode section, clear the Run WWW service in IIS 5.0 isolation<br />

mode check box, <strong>and</strong> then click OK.<br />

When IIS is configured <strong>and</strong> ready to work with SQL Server, you can create the<br />

virtual server you need to host the extranet sites.<br />

To create a virtual server<br />

1. Click Start, point to Programs, point to Administrative Tools, <strong>and</strong> then click<br />

Internet Information Services.<br />

2. Click the plus sign (+) next to the server name you want to add a virtual<br />

server to.<br />

3. Right-click the Web Sites folder, click New, <strong>and</strong> then click Web site.<br />

4. Click Next.<br />

5. In the Description box, type the description of your virtual server <strong>and</strong> then<br />

click Next.<br />

6. In the Enter the IP address to use for this Web site box, select the IP address<br />

you want to use.<br />

7. In the TCP port this Web site should use (Default: 80) box, type the port<br />

number to assign to the virtual server.<br />

8. In the Host Header for this site (Default: None) box, type the header you<br />

want to use <strong>and</strong> then click Next.<br />

9. In the Path box, type or browse to the path on your hard disk where the site<br />

content will go.
