2. On the Directory Security tab, under Authentication and access control,
click Edit.
3. Select the Integrated Windows authentication check box, and clear all
other authentication method check boxes.
4. Click OK to close the Authentication Methods dialog box.
5. Click OK again to close the Properties dialog box.
Installing and Configuring Windows SharePoint Services on the
Intranet Front-End Web Server
You must install Windows SharePoint Services in the server farm configuration. To do so,
you use the setupsts.exe command with the remotesql property on the command line.
To install Windows SharePoint Services with the Remote SQL Server option
1. Insert the Windows SharePoint Services compact disc into your CD drive.
2. Open a command prompt window, and navigate to the root folder on the
CD drive.
3. Run the following command:
setupsts.exe remotesql=yes
4. Follow the prompts to install Windows SharePoint Services.
After setup, you can create the administration virtual server and configuration
database. If you want to set up a server farm environment, you can use the
command-line administration tool to create the configuration database and include
the -hh parameter.
Table 13-1 displays the Stsadm.exe command-line utility that will create the configuration
database or specify the connection to an existing configuration database.
Setting the configuration database is required before a virtual server can be extended.
