2. On the Directory Security tab, under Authentication <strong>and</strong> access control,<br />

click Edit.<br />

3. Select the Integrated Windows authentication check box, <strong>and</strong> clear all<br />

other authentication method check boxes.<br />

4. Click OK to close the Authentication Methods dialog box.<br />

5. Click OK again to close the Properties dialog box.<br />

Installing <strong>and</strong> Configuring Windows SharePoint Services on the<br />

Intranet Front-End Web Server<br />

You must install Windows SharePoint Services in the server farm configuration. To do so,<br />

you use the setupsts.exe comm<strong>and</strong> with the remotesql property on the comm<strong>and</strong> line.<br />

To install Windows SharePoint Services with the Remote SQL Server option<br />

1. Insert the Windows SharePoint Services compact disc into your CD drive.<br />

2. Open a comm<strong>and</strong> prompt window, <strong>and</strong> navigate to the root folder on the<br />

CD drive.<br />

3. Run the following comm<strong>and</strong>:<br />

setupsts.exe remotesql=yes<br />

4. Follow the prompts to install Windows SharePoint Services.<br />

After setup, you can create the administration virtual server <strong>and</strong> configuration<br />

database. If you want to set up a server farm environment, you can use the<br />

comm<strong>and</strong>-line administration tool to create the configuration database <strong>and</strong> include<br />

the -hh parameter.<br />

Table 13-1 displays the Stsadm.exe comm<strong>and</strong>-line utility that will create the configuration<br />

database or specify the connection to an existing configuration database.<br />

Setting the configuration database is required before a virtual server can be extended.<br />
