Chapter 31: Working with Web Parts 841
Caution When you add a Web Part to a site gallery, the .dwp file is copied
into the content database for that site. If you make a change to the .dwp
file, you must import it again or the change is ignored.
You can also have Windows SharePoint Services automatically create a default
.dwp file for a Web Part assembly when you install the Web Part, if the assembly for
the Web Part is already installed on the server and has been added to the safe controls
list. The generated default .dwp is added to the Web Part Page gallery and will
appear by default in the team site gallery.
To do display Web Parts in the gallery, follow these steps:
F31xr06
1. On the home page, click Site Settings.
2. On the Site Settings page, if it is a portal site, click Manage security and additional
settings; on a Windows SharePoint Services website in the Administration
area, click Go to Site Administration.
3. Click Manage Web Part Page gallery, which is under the Templates And Web
Parts section on a portal site, and on a Windows SharePoint Services site in the
Site Collection Galleries area. The Web Part Page Gallery page is displayed and
lists the Web Parts currently added to the gallery, as illustrated in
Figure 31-6. If you click the Web Parts .dwp file name, you will see a preview
of the Web Part.
