824 Part IX: Maintaining a Server in Windows SharePoint Services<br />

Layout Properties<br />

■ Title. Specifies the title of the Web Part as it appears in the browser. The<br />

value of this property is used when you search for Web Parts by using the<br />

Search comm<strong>and</strong> on the Find Web Parts menu of the tool pane.<br />

■ Height. Allows you to choose whether the Web Part should have a fixed<br />

height specified in various units (centimeters, inches, millimeters, points, picas,<br />

or pixels) or whether the Web Part should be sized to fit the zone, where the<br />

height of the Web Part is automatically adjusted to fit the zone. If this property<br />

is not set or if it is set programmatically to Empty, the Web Part is allowed to<br />

grow to be as big as its content within the limits of the zone that contains it.<br />

■ Width. Allows you to make the same choices for width as for height.<br />

■ Frame State. When this property is set to Minimize, only the title of the Web<br />

Part is displayed. Otherwise the title <strong>and</strong> contents are displayed. Users can<br />

choose to “Restore” a minimized Web Part within the browser.<br />

■ Frame Style. Also known as the FrameType property, it allows you to specify<br />

one of the following with regard to the title bar <strong>and</strong> border of the Web Part:<br />

■ To use the specified value of the Web Part Page Zone FrameType property,<br />

select Default. This is the default.<br />

■ To display the content, but not the title bar <strong>and</strong> frame, select None.<br />

■ To display the title bar, content, <strong>and</strong> frame, select Title Bar <strong>and</strong> Border.<br />

■ To display the title bar <strong>and</strong> content, but no frame, select Title Bar Only.<br />

The Layout section allows you to specify how the Web Part is placed or viewed on<br />

the page. These properties, listed here, can be personalized if the zone in which the<br />

Web Part is placed allows this.<br />

■ Include on Page. This property specifies whether the Web Part is actually<br />

present on the page. If this property is not checked, the Web Part, along with<br />

any customizations, is present in the Web Part Page gallery for this page, <strong>and</strong><br />

users can add it later should they want to. Galleries are detailed later in this<br />

chapter. Using the browser, the same effect can be achieved by clicking the<br />

arrow on the right side of the Web Part title bar <strong>and</strong> clicking Close. This property<br />

is called IsIncluded by the underlying Common Language Runtime<br />

(CLR) class for a Web Part.<br />

■ Visible on Page. Specifies whether the Web Part is displayed on the page. A<br />

Web Part whose Visible on Page property is not checked (False) will be visible<br />

only when the Web page is in design mode. Sometimes it is desirable to have
