6. After restarting IIS, click the link to continue, <strong>and</strong> on the Create Configuration<br />

Database page, in the Configuration Database section, enter the server name<br />

<strong>and</strong> database name to use.<br />

7. Select Use Integrated Windows authentication (more secure, recommended).<br />

8. In the Active Directory Account Creation section, select Users already<br />

have domain accounts if you are using a Windows domain, or Automatically<br />

create active directory accounts for users of this site if you are using<br />

Active Directory outside of a Windows domain.<br />

9. If you selected Automatically create active directory accounts for users of<br />

this site, you must fill in the Active Directory Domain <strong>and</strong> Organization<br />

Unit information.<br />

10. Click Submit.<br />

11. On the SharePoint Central Administration page, in the Server Configuration<br />

section, click Set default content database server.<br />

12. On the Content Database Server page, in the Content Database Server section,<br />

enter the server name, administrator account username, <strong>and</strong> password.<br />

13. Click Submit.<br />

Extending the Intranet Virtual Server<br />

With the administration virtual server <strong>and</strong> configuration database in place, you can<br />

extend the virtual server to host the intranet sites. You can use either the comm<strong>and</strong><br />

line or HTML Administration pages to extend the virtual server.<br />

To extend the virtual server using the comm<strong>and</strong> line<br />

1. Open a comm<strong>and</strong> prompt window, <strong>and</strong> navigate to the \Program Files<br />

\Common Files\<strong>Microsoft</strong> Shared\Web Server Extensions\60\bin folder.<br />

2. Run the following comm<strong>and</strong> to extend the intranet virtual server:<br />

stsadm.exe -o extendvs -url http://servername -ownerlogin <br />

-owneremail [-ownername [-databaseuser<br />

-databaseserver -databasename<br />

-databasepassword -lcid -sitetemplate -apcreatenew -apidname<br />

-apidtype -apidlogin -apidpwd ]<br />

Example:<br />

stsadm.exe –o extendvs –url http://My_Server –ownerlogin DOMAIN\user1<br />

–owneremail someone@somewhere.com –ownername user1@domain.com –databaseuser<br />

user1@domain.com –databaseserver SQL_Server –databasename My_Co_Database<br />

–databasepassword P@ssw0rd –lcid 1033 –sitetemplate Sales_Template<br />

–apcreatenew –apidname NewAppPool -apidtype configurableid –admapidlogin<br />

DOMAIN\user1 –apidpwd P@ssw0rd
