Agreement, and choose a folder to which to extract the three tool files: Spin.exe,
Spout.exe, and Spinspouthelp.mht. You should reference the Help file for more
information on the migration scenarios, frequently asked questions, and known
issues with these tools.
You will need to run SPOut on a computer running one of these operating systems:
Windows 2000 Service Pack 4, Windows Server 2003, or Windows XP. Microsoft
.NET Framework 1.1 must be installed on the computer.
SPIn must be installed on the server to which the content will be migrated. In
a Web farm configuration, SPIn must be run from a Web front-end server.
The tools may also be installed on other computers for the purpose of exporting
content. You should only plan to complete the export and import processes
when there is little activity on the two servers, mainly for performance reasons.
Using SPOut
To use SPOut, you must be a member of the Administrators group on the SharePoint
Portal Server 2001 machine and be the workspace coordinator on the workspace
concerned. Navigate to the folder that contains the SharePoint Portal Server 2003
Document Library Tools and double-click SPOut.exe. SPOut is a Windows forms
application that consists of three tabs, as shown in Figure 42-6. This application is
not localized and is only available in English. Directory browsing must be enabled
on the IIS virtual server.
Follow this procedure to export content from a document library:
On the General tab:
1. In the Export folder URL box, type the export folder for the “documents” folder (or
a subfolder), such as http:////Documents
//. SPOut will be connecting to this folder as the user name
you are running SPOut with. This user name must be a workspace coordinator for
SPOut to complete the export process.
