806 Part IX: Maintaining a Server in Windows SharePoint Services
directories; if you want to customize your deployment on a virtual server by virtual
server basis, however, ensure that the process is carefully documented, and if you
have a Web server farm deployment, ensure that it is completed on all servers.
Caution Any service packs or hotfixes will not know that you have remapped
these virtual directories. You will manually have to copy to the new directories
any files that the service packs or hotfixes replace. This requirement should
be reflected in your change management and testing procedures. You might
also find that Microsoft will not support such a configuration.
Adding Web Pages to Document Libraries
Navigate to the Create page for area, subareas, topics, and the Windows SharePoint
Service websites based on the default site templates: Team Site, Document Workspace,
Multipage Meeting, and Blank Site. The Create page can be found by clicking
Manage Content on area pages or Create on websites. Then, in the Web Pages section,
click Web Part Page. The New Web Part Page page is displayed as in Figure 30-4, and
on that page you can choose the layout and number of zones you require. These
Web Part Pages are stored in document libraries, which can be viewed, managed, or
deleted like any other item within a document library, as detailed in Chapter 19,
“Working with Documents in SharePoint Products and Technologies.”
