10. Clear the Allow anonymous access to this Web site check box, and then
click Next.
11. On the Web Site Access Permissions page, select the permissions to use and
then click Next.
If other users are allowed to contribute to the site, you must select at least the
Read, Write, and Browse check boxes. If your virtual server allows scripts to
be run, you must also select the Run scripts (such as ASP) check box. If you
want to allow ISAPI applications or CGI scripts to be used on your virtual
server, you must also select the Execute (such as ISAPI applications or CGI)
check box.
12. Click Finish.
Now you can configure the authentication method to use for the extranet virtual
server.
To configure the authentication method for the extranet virtual server
1. On the extranet front-end Web server, in Internet Information Services,
right-click the virtual server that will be used for the extranet site, and then
click Properties.
2. On the Directory Security tab, under Authentication and access control,
click Edit.
3. Select the Basic authentication check box, and clear all other authentication
method check boxes.
4. Click OK to close the Authentication Methods dialog box.
5. On the Directory Security tab, under Secure communications, click Edit.
6. In the Secure Communications dialog box, select the Require secure channel
(SSL) check box and then click OK.
7. Click OK again to close the Properties dialog box.
Note You must have a certificate before you can enable SSL. For more
information about SSL certificates, see the topics “About Certificates” and
“Setting Up SSL on Your Server” in IIS 6.0 online Help. For more information
about IIS authentication methods, see the topic “About authentication”
in IIS 6.0 online Help.
After you have configured the authentication method, you can install Windows
SharePoint Services.
