pane, which starts with a desktop view of your computer. The right pane lists the<br />

files found in the selected folder, with a check box next to each file. By selecting the<br />

check boxes, you can choose the files you want to upload. The Overwrite Existing<br />

File(s) check box is available. If selected, this setting will be used for all files—that<br />

is, if a file of the same name exists in the document library, it will be replaced.<br />

If you use this feature on portal document libraries, you cannot upload a document<br />

<strong>and</strong> add a listing for the documents—that is, using the bulk upload method,<br />

the Add A Listing For This Document option is not available. If you want a link to<br />

be added to the Portal Listings list for an area or topic for any documents you are<br />

uploading, you’ll need to use the Submit To Portal Area or Add A Listing features.<br />

See Chapter 20 for more information on this topic. Also, if you have defined extra<br />

columns in your document library <strong>and</strong> have assigned default values to those columns,<br />

during the bulk upload method the default values will be taken for the fields<br />

for each document.<br />

To upload files into a document library by using My Network Places<br />

1. Click the Start menu, click All Programs, point to Accessories, <strong>and</strong> then<br />

click Windows Explorer.<br />

2. In the Folders list, click My Network Places.<br />

3. In the right pane, double-click Add Network Place.<br />

4. Follow the instructions in the Add Network Place Wizard to add a shortcut to<br />

the server running Windows SharePoint Services.
