1. On the Specify Configuration Database Settings For server_name page, in the
Database Connections section, do one of the following:
■ If no configuration database exists, click Create configuration database.
■ If a configuration database already exists, click Connect to existing
configuration database.
2. In the Configuration Database Server section, in the Database server box,
type the name of the computer running SQL Server.
Note If you have a named SQL Server instance, specify both the name of
the computer running SQL Server and the SQL Server instance name in the
format server_name\SQL_instance_name.
3. In the Configuration Database Name section, do one of the following:
■ If you want to use the default database name that is displayed, click Use
default name.
■ If you want to specify a name for the database, click Specify custom
name, and then in the Custom name box, type a name for the database.
4. Click OK to continue to the next page.
Configure Account and Proxy Settings
When you configure server farm account settings during installation, the Web pages
will vary depending on whether you are installing with or without the database
engine. Regardless, the emphasis of this page is for you to specify how you want to
crawl content sources (websites, network resources, and servers) that will be
included in content indexes. The account, also known as the default content access
account, requires read access to the content being crawled for crawls to return successful
results.
If configuring SharePoint Portal Server with MSDE, you will be prompted to
provide the contact e-mail address, default content access account, and proxy server
settings as illustrated in Figure 3-5.
