The following procedures apply to portal areas <strong>and</strong> Topics.<br />

To use the Manage Content link<br />

1. Navigate to the area or Topic where the document library resides.<br />

2. Click Manage Content in the navigation area in the Actions section.<br />

3. On the top link bar, click Create.<br />

4. On the Create Page page, click Document Library.<br />

5. In the Name box, type a name for the list. This is a required field.<br />

6. In the Description box, type a description of the purpose of the library.<br />

7. In the Navigation section, click Yes if you want a link to this list to appear on<br />

the Quick Launch bar. This is only meaningful on websites that have a quick<br />

launch area. Portal areas <strong>and</strong> Topics do not have a Quick Launch area.<br />

8. In the Document Versions section, click Yes if you want a backup copy of a<br />

file to be created each time a file is checked into the library.<br />

9. In the Document Template section, specify the type of file used as a template<br />

for new files in this document library.<br />

10. Click Create.<br />

The following procedures apply to Team sites, Blank sites, Document Workspace<br />

sites, <strong>and</strong> Multipage Meeting Workspace websites.<br />

To use the Create link on the Navigation area<br />

1. On the top link bar, click Create.<br />

2. On the Create Page page, click Document Library <strong>and</strong> follow the procedure<br />

just shown.<br />

You can open the new document library by clicking Documents <strong>and</strong> Lists on<br />

the top link bar <strong>and</strong> then clicking the document library name in the Document<br />

Libraries section. If you chose to add the document library to the Quick Launch bar,<br />

you can also click the document library name there to open it.<br />

To use the Create link on the Document <strong>and</strong> Lists page<br />

1. On the top link bar, click Documents <strong>and</strong> Lists.<br />

2. On the Documents And Lists page, click Create.<br />

3. On the Create Page page, click Document Library <strong>and</strong> follow the procedure<br />

just shown.<br />

My Site has the Documents And Lists link on the top navigation bar. It also has<br />

the following additional way of creating document libraries:
