5. Enter an IP address to bind to if you have multiple network interface cards<br />

(NIC); otherwise, enter a host header as shown in Figure 14-6. Click Next to<br />

continue.<br />

6. Enter a path for the website. This path cannot be the same as one used<br />

by another website. You should create a new folder under your default home<br />

directory for IIS sites (located by default at C:\Inetpub\wwwroot). Clear<br />

the Allow anonymous access to this Web site check box. Click Next to<br />

continue.<br />

7. Leave Web Site Access Permissions at their default (Read, Run scripts). Click<br />

Next to continue. Click Finish to complete the wizard.<br />

8. Repeat steps 1 through 7 on each front-end Web server.<br />

9. Go to SharePoint Portal Server Central Administration.<br />

10. In the Portal Site <strong>and</strong> Virtual Server Configuration section, click Create a<br />

portal site.<br />

11. Enter a name for the portal site, <strong>and</strong> select the virtual server you just created as<br />

shown in Figure 14-7. Enter an owner account <strong>and</strong> e-mail address. Click OK.<br />

Click OK again to confirm portal site creation.<br />

12. For additional front-end servers, on the SharePoint Portal Server Central<br />

Administration page, in the Portal Site <strong>and</strong> Virtual Server Configuration<br />

section, click Extend an existing virtual server from the Virtual Server<br />

List page.
