The Configure Server Farm Account Settings Page Does Not Appear<br />

When you run Setup to install SharePoint Portal Server 2003 you might find that the<br />

Configure Server Farm Account Settings page is not displayed <strong>and</strong> the SharePoint<br />

Central Administration Site is not configured correctly; this problem occurs after you<br />

complete these steps:<br />

1. Specify the user account that you want to use as the Configuration Database<br />

Administration Account on the SharePoint Portal Server page that requests<br />

account information.<br />

2. Click Next on the Install <strong>Microsoft</strong> Office SharePoint Portal Server 2003 page.<br />

3. Click Finish on the Completing The <strong>Microsoft</strong> Office SharePoint Portal Server<br />

2003 Setup Wizard page.<br />

Additionally, you might experience the following symptoms:<br />

■ When you view SharePoint Portal Server 2003–related settings in <strong>Microsoft</strong><br />

Internet Information Services (IIS) Manager, the following symptoms occur:<br />

■ When you exp<strong>and</strong> websites <strong>and</strong> view the entry for the SharePoint Central<br />

Administration site in the right pane, the State of the site appears as<br />

Stopped.<br />

■ When you right-click the SharePoint Central Administration Site,<br />

click Properties, <strong>and</strong> then click the Home Directory tab, the value that<br />

is displayed in the Application pool box is .<br />

■ When you exp<strong>and</strong> Application Pools, the CentralAdminAppPool Application<br />

Pool is not listed.<br />

■ If you create a new application pool named CentralAdminAppPool <strong>and</strong><br />

you start SharePoint Central Administration, you are repeatedly prompted<br />

to enter your user name <strong>and</strong> password. After you are prompted to enter<br />

your user name <strong>and</strong> password several times, you receive the following<br />

error message: “You do not have permission to view this page.”<br />

■ An error message that is similar to the following message is logged to the<br />

Spsadm.log file:<br />

0000059E UNK 00000000 00000600 Service account name is ’SPSUser’. 0000059E UNK<br />

00000000 00000600 An exception occurred while setting the administration cred<br />

entials. <strong>Microsoft</strong>.SharePoint.Portal.Topology.p: Error occurred while stopping<br />

services. See the event log for details. ---<br />

> System.ComponentModel.Win32Exception: The account name is invalid or does no<br />

t exist, or the password is invalid for the account name specified at Microsof<br />

t.SharePoint.Portal.Topology.y.a(q A_0, String A_1, String A_2) ...
