Chapter 17: Configuring SharePoint Portal Server 2003 469
Automatic Error Reporting
SharePoint Portal Server 2003 can be configured to automatically send reports to
Microsoft of errors that cause it to crash. Automatic error reporting uses a connection
that uses the HTTP over SSL (https) protocol, which is more secure than an ordinary
Internet connection. The data that Microsoft collects is used strictly for the purpose
of tracking down and solving problems that users are experiencing. The information
is stored in a secure database with limited access.
You can view the Microsoft Error Reporting Data Collection Policy from a link
in the Automatic Error Reporting section. There is a link to this page on the SharePoint
Portal Server Central Administration For Server server_name page.
The procedure to configure automatic error reporting for this server involves
