The first column of headers lists backup types. The first row of headers lists the
restore destination deployment. “No” means that you are not allowed to restore the
backup to the destination. Intra-federated portal sites are part of the same server
farm as the master portal site, the shared service provider. Inter-federated portal sites
are part of a different server as the master portal site. Both inter-federated and intrafederated
portal sites are known as shared services consumer portal sites.
1. Install and configure SQL Server 2000.
2. Load your standard image for each of the servers in the server farm by using
your standard imaging tools and processes.
3. Set up the front-end Web servers:
a. Configure Network Load Balancing on the front-end Web servers.
b. Copy the Inetpub and IIS metabase data for each front-end Web server
from the shared backup directory. Then restore the IIS metabase and
reinstall any custom assemblies, templates, and add-on software components.
c. Use SharePoint Portal Server Central Administration on the first front-end
Web server to create a new configuration database, and add the server to
the topology as a Web server. If this is a medium server farm with the
search components located on the front-end Web server, add the server to
the topology as a search server.
d. Add the second front-end Web server to the topology, and connect it to
the new configuration database. If this is a medium server farm with the
search components located on the front-end Web server, add the server to
the topology as a search server.
e. Add the index management server and the search server to the topology,
connecting to the new configuration database.
f. Install SQL Server 2000 Server Client Tools and the latest SQL Server 2000
Service Pack on the first front-end Web server in the server farm.
