Introduction
NMS Operator Actions for CENLOG Events
Sections 2 through 16 of this manual provide descriptions and suggested actions for events
and errors that occur during system operation. The CENLOG messages that are displayed
on various NMS consoles provide a system message, class number, and event number.
Sometimes a CENLOG message suggests that you submit a User Communication Form
(UCF). If a UCF is necessary, follow these suggestions:
• Determine the frequency of the occurrence.
• Determine how the CENLOG relates to problems you are experiencing.
• Submit a long list of the CENLOGs that concern you (whether or not you are able to
initiate a Telcon dump or a @@CONS SNAP Telcon dump).
To submit a long list, enter the @@PRNT command on one of your network NMS consoles,
or better yet, XFER the CENLOG files (PRSTATnn, ALSTATnn) to a 2200 host and
execute the @CAP Telcon utility to print them.
For more information on handling problems and support procedures, see the Telcon
Operations Guide (7831 5785) and the Telcon Operations Reference Manual (7831 5728).
Detailed CENLOG Event Descriptions
Detailed CENLOGs help network analysts isolate and resolve system problems. You can
locate the description you need by system procedure name, CENLOG class, and event
numbers displayed at NMS consoles. The procedure appears in bold type. The majority of
detailed CENLOGs are in class 5 (Section 5 of this manual). Procedure names do not
contain messages, but rather abbreviations and acronyms such as DTP, NTRLPH, TAF,
and BVOUTPUT.
You should be familiar with the Telcon networking system and system-level nomenclature
to use these CENLOGs.
To obtain further information about each CENLOG, refer to the assembly listing of the
procedure at the address where the CENLOG occurs. The address displays on the NMS
console when you select the long format. These addresses are not listed in this manual
because they may change with each software generation level.
