Message Type Description
NMS and DSA Messages
NMS Session These messages relate to the establishment and status of
sessions in the network.
Resiliency Messages acknowledging that a resiliency-type NMS
command has been executed (solicited or automatic).
Set Response messages are displayed on the NMS console
when an NMS SET command has been entered.
Statistics Statistics are collected by software and periodically written
to disk. Two local mass storage disk files (PRSTAT and
ALSTAT) are cataloged during system initialization phase.
When local data collection has been configured, and either
the primary or alternate file has been filled, a message
appears signifying that the current statistics file is full.
Storage Status Storage status information is displayed on the NMS console
following the execution of the NMS command STOR.
Syntax Analysis Error messages are displayed on the NMS console when an
NMS command has been entered incorrectly.
System Warning Warning messages are displayed on the NMS console when
an abnormal status condition exists.
Unsolicited Message Error Errors encountered in processing the USM result in the
USMs being dropped and an error response being returned
to the sending terminal.
XFER Response messages are displayed on the NMS console
when an NMS XFER command has been entered.
When a message appears on your console, refer to the following alphabetical list to
determine the action you should take.
ALTERNATE DCP ID MUST BE SPECIFIED
Description: Alternate Telcon node ID is not specified on ONLN or STBY command.
Operator Action: Telcon is backed up by more than one Telcon. In this case, you
must specify an alternate Telcon node ID indicating which pair is affected by the
switch.
* AUX DEVICE ERROR DETECTED *
Description: An error occurred in accessing an auxiliary device.
Operator Action: Check the auxiliary device conditions, such as paper out or unit
offline.
