<strong>Message</strong> Type Description<br />

NMS and DSA <strong>Message</strong>s<br />

NMS Session These messages relate to the establishment and status of<br />

sessions in the network.<br />

Resiliency <strong>Message</strong>s acknowledging that a resiliency-type NMS<br />

command has been executed (solicited or automatic).<br />

Set Response messages are displayed on the NMS console<br />

when an NMS SET command has been entered.<br />

Statistics Statistics are collected by software and periodically written<br />

to disk. Two local mass storage disk files (PRSTAT and<br />

ALSTAT) are cataloged during system initialization phase.<br />

When local data collection has been configured, and either<br />

the primary or alternate file has been filled, a message<br />

appears signifying that the current statistics file is full.<br />

Storage Status Storage status information is displayed on the NMS console<br />

following the execution of the NMS command STOR.<br />

Syntax Analysis Error messages are displayed on the NMS console when an<br />

NMS command has been entered incorrectly.<br />

System Warning Warning messages are displayed on the NMS console when<br />

an abnormal status condition exists.<br />

Unsolicited <strong>Message</strong> Error Errors encountered in processing the USM result in the<br />

USMs being dropped and an error response being returned<br />

to the sending terminal.<br />

XFER Response messages are displayed on the NMS console<br />

when an NMS XFER command has been entered.<br />

When a message appears on your console, refer to the following alphabetical list to<br />

determine the action you should take.<br />

ALTERNATE <strong>DCP</strong> ID MUST BE SPECIFIED<br />

Description: Alternate <strong>Telcon</strong> node ID is not specified on ONLN or STBY command.<br />

Operator Action: <strong>Telcon</strong> is backed up by more than one <strong>Telcon</strong>. In this case, you<br />

must specify an alternate <strong>Telcon</strong> node ID indicating which pair is affected by the<br />

switch.<br />

* AUX DEVICE ERROR DETECTED *<br />

Description: An error occurred in accessing an auxiliary device.<br />

Operator Action: Check the auxiliary device conditions, such as paper out or unit<br />

offline.<br />
