UNILPH
See UNISCOPE line protocol handler.
Glossary
UNISCOPE
1) A Unisys interactive synchronous line protocol for display terminals.
2) An early series of Unisys (Sperry Univac) nonintelligent interactive display terminals.
UNISCOPE Line Protocol Handler (UNILPH)
Controls each individual UNISCOPE compatible terminal in a terminal-by-terminal, lineby-line
basis. R11 points to the LCB (line control block). R12 typically points to the TCB
(terminal control block).
UNISCOPE Virtualizer (UVTR)
Converts the INT1 output protocol messages to UNISCOPE protocol for UNILPH to
handle. Also converts UNISCOPE protocol input messages to INT1 protocol messages for
input to CMS 1100, for either RSDCSU applications or TIP applications such as MAPPER.
R12 typically points to the TCB (terminal control block).
Universal Data-Link Control Handler for the Remote DCP Load/Dump Services (UDLCRS)
Handles loading and dumping of remote termination systems (such as remote DCPs that
do not have an 2200 channel connected, or UTS20L terminals) over a serial synchronous
communication line. For more information on these services refer to the Telcon
Installation Guide (7831 5645).
Universal Terminal System (UTS)
A family of Unisys interactive display terminals that uses the UNISCOPE line protocol.
Unsolicited Message (USM)
A message sent from one demand terminal to another demand terminal. No session path
is required between the two terminals. USMs are typically short.
USM
See unsolicited message.
USM/broadcast
The unsolicited message/broadcast procedure enables an application or terminal to send a
message up to five pages long to another terminal or group of terminals without
establishing sessions with them.
USM central node
The DCP where network unsolicited messages (USMs) are stored and can be manipulated
with NMS commands.
