Glossary
IBM Binary Synchronous Communications protocol
Generally applies to Telcon's 2780/3780 remote batch device handler. Related procedure
names are BSCLPH, BVINPUT, and BVOUTPUT.
ILM
See intelligent line module.
ILM-AUC
See Intelligent Line Module Asynchronous to UTS Converter.
INSTDC
See instrumentation data collection module.
Instrumentation Data Collection Module (IDCM, INSTDC)
A module that enables you to store the instrumentation buffers produced by the hardware
when instrumentation is turned on. Writes instrumentation data to disk if requested from
the TRON command using the WRAP=N parameter if the TRON command specified
instrumentation parameters rather than system debug trace parameters. See disk file
INSTDAnn. This INSTDC module also writes CENLOG buffers to disk, in 4K segments.
See file names PRSTATnn, ALSTATnn for local log files and HDSTATnn and
CLSTATnn for central log files. Refer to the DCP Series Telcon Operations Guide (7831
5785) for more information.
Intelligent Line Module (ILM)
A line module that contains an M68xxxx microprocessor and dedicated main memory,
enabling an ILM to perform communications processing functions that previously required
resources from both the communications processor (CP) and the input/output processor
(IOP). The result is a lower processing load on the CP and IOP, allowing greater
throughput for DCP users.
Intelligent Line Module Asynchronous-to-UTS Converter (ILM AUC)
An interface application that can execute on the ILM and ILM Platform. It provides the
same functions as the predecessor Asynchronous to UTS product, but allows greater
throughput, since it executes almost exclusively on the ILM, not the CP. ILM AUC allows
users of asynchronous terminals (primarily Digital and Digital-compatible) to access
applications on OS 2200 hosts as if they were using UTS terminals.
Interprogram Message (IPM)
A DCP/OS mechanism by which two separate programs can communicate with each other.
One program defines an IPM Receiver (a queue) and the other program connects to this
receiver for a one-way connection.
International Standards Organization (ISO)
The organization that promotes international computer standards. Includes
representatives from major computer manufacturers in many countries.
