DIAL ON PORT XXX, DCP XXXXXXXX, PHONE # X...X
Description: This is the manual dial-up message.
Action: Perform a dial-out function on the port specified to the telephone number
specified.
Additional Information: When a system session open request is received from a
host for a terminal that is attached to an inactive group, an attempt is made to
establish the physical connection with the terminal using an auto or manual dial-out
operation. An auto-dial operation involves a second port processor, which is cabled to
an automatic call unit connected to a local modem. It requires a special line module
to perform the dial function. The operation is performed with hardware and software
and requires no human intervention. Manual dialing involves a Telcon node operator
performing the dial operation to the specified group of terminals from the local
modem attached to the indicated port processor. The Telcon node always attempts
first to locate an auto-dial line; if it fails to locate one, it attempts a manual dial-up
operation.
This message and the one following are used to communicate with the Telcon node
console operator during dial-out attempts.
