JTAG <strong>Configuration</strong>After the first device com<strong>pl</strong>etes configuration in a multi-deviceconfiguration chain, its nCEO pin drives low to activate the seconddevice’s nCE pin, which prompts the second device to beginconfiguration. Therefore, if these devices are also in a JTAG chain, makesure the nCE pins are connected to GND during JTAG configuration orthat the devices are JTAG configured in the same order as theconfiguration chain. As long as the devices are JTAG configured in thesame order as the multi-device configuration chain, the nCEO of theprevious device will drive nCE of the next device low when it hassuccessfully been JTAG configured.Other Altera devices that have JTAG support can be <strong>pl</strong>aced in the sameJTAG chain for device programming and configuration.1 Stratix, Stratix II, Stratix II GX, Cyclone , and Cyclone IIdevices must be within the first 17 devices in a JTAG chain. Allof these devices have the same JTAG controller. If any of theStratix, Stratix II, Stratix II GX, Cyclone, and Cyclone II devicesare in the 18th or after they will fail configuration.
