Configuring APEX 20KE & APEX 20KC DevicesWhen using a download cable, setting the Auto-Restart Configuration AfterError option does not affect the configuration cycle because you mustmanually restart configuration in the Quartus II software when an erroroccurs. Additionally, the Enable user-supplied start-up clock (CLKUSR)option has no affect on the device initialization since this option isdisabled in the SOF when programming the FPGA using the Quartus IIprogrammer and download cable. Therefore, if you turn on the CLKUSRoption, you do not need to provide a clock on CLKUSR when you areconfiguring the FPGA with the Quartus II programmer and a downloadcable. Figure 7–13 shows PS configuration for APEX 20KE and APEX20KC devices using a USB Blaster, MasterBlaster, ByteBlaster II orByteBlasterMV cable.Figure 7–13. This is to ensure that DATA0and DCLK are not left floating after configuration. For example, if you are alsousing a configuration device, the pull-up resistors on DATA0 and DCLK are notneeded.(3) Pin 6 of the header is a VIO reference voltage for the MasterBlaster output driver.VIO should match the device’s V CCIO . Refer to the MasterBlaster Serial/USBCommunications Cable Data Sheet for this value. In the ByteBlasterMV, this pin isa no connect. In the USB Blaster and ByteBlaster II, this pin is connected to nCEwhen it is used for Active Serial programming, otherwise it is a no connect.Altera Corporation 7–29August 2005 Configuration Handbook, Volume 1
